Car hit by bus: my employer wants to concede liability but will this affect my injury claim?

I had just parked the car and had the door slightly ajar when a bus hit the door. I hadn't opened the door into his path and he was running extremely close to the parked cars as I had hold of the door. I have been informed that I am at fault as it was a bus and they always have right of way. It was a works car so its not my insurance and they are going to admit fault as a result i am going to be made redundant. Can I make claim against the bus company myself as I was injured because I had hold of the door and was taken to hospital. Are they correct am I at fault because it was a bus?

Liability is not clear cut.

In theory the bus should have provided enough space or been able to avoid this incident. It will all depend upon the traffic conditions at the time (whether it was a narrow road and therefore unavoidable).

You may have a claim for personal injury and indeed you may also have a claim for unfair dismissal and/or disability discrimination.

Even if your company's insurers admit liability, a claim can still be brought, but they should be put on notice as soon as possible that liability is in dispute.
