Car involved in non-fault accident had bald front tyre - will this void my insurance?
I was rear-ended by a tailgating driver but when we came to a stop he said my front tyre was bald and he would report me to the police. What penalty am I likely to face and will my insurance be void? Can I claim against him?
This is a non-fault claim on your part where the responsibility lies with the other driver.
The bald tyre is irrelevant to the cause of the accident and the very most you would get for a bald tyre is 3 points and a £60 fine. The police are more likely to charge the other driver with due care and attention than to worry about your tyre.
