Moving to Spain: what paperwork should I have with me?

Later this year I'm planning to move to Spain. At some stage later, I plan to hire a van, either from Spain or England, and collect the rest of my belongings to take to Spain with me. Would I need a different type of insurance, as I'm moving goods (albeit personal goods and belongings) abroad and what paperwork I should have for customs, etc. Any advice would be very gratefully received.

No paperwork is required for customs provided you are travelling within the EU, which you are.

Check with your insurance company that you have 'Green Card' cover under your existing policy which will cover you for driving in the EU.

Most importantly you are required to carry your insurance documents and driving licence at all times. If not the police may impound your vehicle and belongings until you have produced them and paid a fine.

You also need to carry a reflective jacket and a reflective warning triangle.
