My car is a write off: can I recover my unused insurance premium as part of my uninsured losses?

I am facing a total loss on economic grounds following damage to my vehicle. (The anticipated repair costs of £1500 exceed the market value of my vehicle.) The other party is deemed to be totally to blame for the incident. My insurance company has offered £550 in settlement for the write-off but owing to the claim there is no pro-rated refund of premium for the remaining months of the insurance policy term. If I replace the vehicle with a similar model, the reinsurance premium for the replacement car for this remaining term would be about £150. Would you expect that I could recover this additional cost as an 'uninsured loss' from the other party?

You can seek to recover this as an uninsured loss. Check whether you have legal expenses insurance as legal costs could easily eat away the amount you are seeking to recover.
